Scope & Content Handwritten letter from William "Willie" Judkins to his father, Stephen H. Judkins. William mustered in in Oct 1861 and served with the 48th Regiment, Indiana Volunteer. The letter describes his travel up the Tenn river. There is also a description of Gen. John Pope's army going down the Mississippi river and the wounded from the fight at Pittsburg. He finishes by telling the movement of other units and the baking of bread in camp.
